• J.R. Smith wins the 2008 NC Majors Championship, his first. Congratulations, JR!
  

• The Majors Champion is the winner of the Majors Division, or selected from the middle of the contestant field in a single class tournament.
  

• When the mid place finishers is a non-resident then the next place NC finisher above him is selected. Only NC residences may be a NC Championship title holder.  Rules
  

• We have started awarding a NC State Youth Champion which goes to Trey Stanley.  Congratulations, Trey! 
  

• Clint Pickard contributed $400, Don Andrews $25, John Webster $20 + $900 from Trust Fund + Entry Fees = $1,605.00 Cash Prize Purse.
  

• Cecil Lowe, our NCCA - President was recognized for his 36 years of service to NC Checkers, and presented the North Carolina Checker Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, plus a plaque and desk pen.
  

• Clint Pickard, our past NCCA - Treasurer was also recognized for his 50+ years of service to NC Checkers, and presented the North Carolina Checker Association's Lifetime Achievement Award, plus a plaque and desk pen.
  

• Many thanks and appreciation to these two Gentlemen!
  

• Various door prizes and everyone received an "All About Checkers" DVD.
  

• Trophies were awarded to: 1st place, Majors, and Youth, top place finishers.
  

• We welcome and appreciate our 1st time tournament player Chet Perkins of Charlotte.
  

• Rating from January, 2008 - WCDF Site.
  

• Finish Position determined by match points, then honor points.
  

• Prize Money paid to finish position determined by match points only, tied match points finishers split their winnings.
  

• Withdrawals are stacked at bottom according to rounds played without prize money, except for final round.
